Selcuk has a relaxed posture. Walks round and offers help and advice, or sits on a table to build rapport and show trust. His voice retains the conversation quality he normally uses. His face and general posture have an open and inviting quality. While considering questions and contributions he generally smiles (slightly). This creates an inviting atmosphere.
Selcuk starts off with asking for the initial situation. Investigating the pre-knowledge as well as the disposition of students towards the use of the online tool. He builds rapport by positively accepting all questions and contributions.
He treats the students as peers and has high expectations of their ability to join in doing the online activity. He gives compliments for contributions and achievements. The pedagogical climate in his classroom is warm and positive.
The aim was given and referred to during the lecture, after the initial comparison of experience and very brief introduction everyone was invited to a hands-on experience. The beauty of the activity was that Selcuk did not give instructions on what to do or the possibilities, but instead used the achievements of the experimenting students to showcase the options. On top of that he had the students explain what they did and how they did it. This approach served the group with a shared success experience and a feeling of achievement instead of performance.
The whole lesson worked towards a more in-depth insight into the applicability of the tool. The interactive technique used ensured everyone could translate the final, more complex, examples into useful blueprints for personal use in coming educational activities.
The one tip I would like to give you is to (have the students) formalize the options into a manual type or review. Consolidating the experience with a written review would heighten retainment levels.
